Sadly we are not able to get together in person for this year’s AGM, so will be holding it online instead. Don’t let that put you off! The park has never been more popular and we would love to share our ideas for further improvements and hear any new suggestions. Please email info@westerlyware.com if you would like to be sent a link to participate in the meeting online. We hope to be back properly next year.
WWA AGM - Monday September 30th 8.00pm
The Ware has looked fabulous all summer and we’re now looking forward to all those gorgeous autumn colours on our ornamental trees. This month, as well as the usual end of summer tidying, we’ve had fun painting the shed. Richmond Council sent a big team to help with the work, and it is now a very smart shade of grey.
Next up is the AGM. Why not come along and let us know what you’d like to see happen in Westerly Ware? From greater community involvement to choosing which bulbs you’d like to see in the spring, come along and have your say. We’ll be upstairs at the Greyhound pub from 8.00pm and would love to hear your ideas.
Here comes summer! Let's picnic...
The weather is improving and Westerly Ware is already looking colourful. Jane and Mark have been working hard to get the borders in shape for summer, and we’re just about to restock the terraced beds with some new shrubs. We’ve already spotted a few picnics on our new picnic table, the tennis courts are getting busy and with these lovely long evenings the playground is often full past teatime.
Thank you to everyone who came along to our Easter Egg Hunt. Eighty children took part, keeping the Easter Bunny very busy. With the beautiful sunshine and gorgeous blossom, it was quite a special morning and just lovely to see so many small children having fun in the park. We were not sure what to expect for our first one and were thrilled by its success - a new tradition for the Ware.
Next up is our Great Summer Picnic. Please come along on June 1st from 12.30pm. Just bring a blanket and your picnic and join us in celebrating Westerly Ware. We’re hoping for gorgeous weather and a chance to enjoy the park with friends and neighbours. Everyone’s welcome.
Spring has arrived in Westerly Ware - look out for the bunny.
Spring has arrived in Westerly Ware, and the weather has just caught up... The daffodils and magnolias were magnificent in March and we are now about to hit peak blossom, with the new trees that we planted in 2016 promising a lovely display over the next few weeks.
This Easter we are holding our first ever Family Easter Egg Hunt on the Ware. We’ll be hiding dozens of (dog-safe) paper eggs all over the park, to be exchanged for chocolates by those children clever enough to find them. The Greyhound are sending their cheeky Easter Bunny to join in the fun, and afterwards there’ll be face painting and balloon modelling in the pub for those wanting to carry on the celebrations. See here for details.
In other news, we are talking to the council about ways to improve the path from the playground to the park (behind the tennis court) and also looking again at ways to brighten the Memorial Garden. We are also planning to repaint the shed this summer - please get in touch if you’d like to help.
